1999 was characterised by a very hot summer which resulted in a reduced yield, which was particularly notable in the Grand Maitre vineyard.
Destemming, 14 days maceration, temperature controlled fermentation. 12 months maturation in new french oak barrels

Appearance
The wine shows average intensity with a medium garnet rim and a garnet core.
Nose
Subtle developing aromas of coffee, chocolate, tobacco; and red fruit: red currants and cranberries; oak and leather.
Palate
Moderate acidity supported by ample fleshy tannins. Medium bodied with soft fruit: blueberries, red cherries, baked plums and complexities of oak, vanilla, leather and cinnamon. It has warm alcohol and a persistent finish
Conclusion
This well-balanced red wine is already approachable and can keep for at least another 2-3 years.
